The main directions of the SYRIZA strategy for the next period were developed by Alexis Tsipras at a meeting of the Political Secretariat. The party has entered full pre-election readiness, and in the next period the tour will become more intense. “I don’t know if he smells of elections like Mr. Mitsotakis smells, but I know that his government’s policies smell very strong and very bad,” the official opposition leader said during his speech. He even assessed that the government has suffered significant damage from its policies and that wiretapping has left an indelible mark on the majority: “Mr. Mitsotakis is now a factor in political instability, since the only opportunity to form a government is after the elections and we will not lead to repeated election contests is the victory of SYRIZA and the formation of a progressive government.”

Attaching great importance to the upcoming parliamentary battles, Andreas Xanthos took the floor for the first time in the Political Secretariat on the Ministry of Health bill being voted on today, speaking of a big step back from the days when the National Health Service did not exist. The information says that Alexis Tsipras will intervene in the debate in Parliament.

Efi Ahtsioglu also issued a statement on the budget to be voted on December 17, speaking of continuing the policy of forcible redistribution of wealth. On this occasion, Alexis Tsipras stressed that “the vast majority of Greek society is suffocating. Purchasing power is constantly decreasing, income is distributed in the first 15 days of the month. And this situation concerns not only the lowest-income strata, workers and low-pensioners, but also small and medium-sized enterprises. The central narrative of SYRIZA that emerged from the meeting is that society must be convinced that there is another way, a progressive program that can provide solutions. Alexis Tsipras articulated this in his protolog: “The dilemma is whether injustice and inequality will continue to grow everywhere, or whether justice will finally return to its place everywhere.”

At the meeting of the Political Secretariat, the issue of creating a “Network of Local Self-Government” of at least 130 members was also raised, which did not cause much tension in the last Central Committee. Panos Skurletis, according to K, disagreed with Christos Spirtzis on how it was formed, arguing that 60 members should come ex officio from prefectural committees. At least 80% of the names of the candidates who will run in the next elections are expected to be announced. Alexis Tsipras asked that the procedures be strengthened and that the main part of the ballots be approved and made public before the Christmas holidays. The same applies to the state program SYRIZA. The political secretariat will meet on specific issues in the next ten days.
