Lionel Messi had another reason to be happy. Being at the match under the 1000th career number, the Argentine managed to crown it with a goal and a successful evolution.

“I am very happy with this step, I have achieved another goal. It was a very difficult match. Our fans are incredible. All of Argentina would like to be here, but it cannot be. They share their passion, energy and joy with us, and we are grateful for that. It’s unbelievable,” Messi said after the game, according to the Daily Mail.

Argentina will meet the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup, in a match that will take place on December 9 at the Lusail Stadium.
