Borrell: EU trained 1,100 Ukrainian troops

Meanwhile, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that so far they have participated in a training program organized by the EU. 1100 Ukrainian military personnel.

Mr. Borel called the number while visiting a camp where members of the Ukrainian armed forces are being trained in Brzeg, Poland.

On November 14, European Union foreign ministers gave the green light to the training mission. It officially started the next day.

Several EU member states, by virtue of bilateral agreements, have already trained Ukrainian military personnel.

In total, it is planned to train up to 15 thousand military personnel in 20 participating countries.

The cost, which according to Mr Borrell will amount to 100 million euros, will be covered by the EU.

In addition, the program provides for the cost of 15 million euros for ammunition and covering the costs of each participating country.

The German Armed Forces will take part by organizing training for Ukrainian soldiers in combat tactics, as well as sports halls. In total, up to 5,000 Ukrainian servicemen are expected to be trained in Germany.
