In the house of Stellantis, the electrification plan is valid for all brands. After the presentation inPeugeot E-308 last September, nowOpel Astra-e who enters
We will remind, two vehicles very similar since they have the same platform – a special version that allows you to place a Battery with a capacity of 54 kWh. Like their heat counterparts, both cars share an almost identical interior and passenger compartment, making the two cars almost (too) close. This summer we also had the opportunity to compare two models in hybrid version 180 (PHEV) on video to open here.

With the appearance of the electric version of the Astra, the differences are again insignificant between these two models. Here are the detailed specifications!
Design and styling: E badge and new rims
In Peugeot, the electric version of the 308 brings meager aesthetic novelties compared to thermal option. This is how we find everyone new rims 18″, designed specifically for the electric version. Electric models are marked with an icon “E-308” behind.
Same for Opel Astra-e. The German manufacturer hardly makes any extra effort to stand out from the thermal range. Supplements only specific discs and one “e” icon on the Astra tailgate, marked to the right of the model name, deserves attention.
Interior, trim and trunk: some style differences
The interior does not change in relation to thermal versions. Inside the Frenchman we still find the architecture with the i-Cockpit and the small steering wheel. The finish, in turn, is very good and still a step above the German one. There are two 10-inch screens with the famous strip customizable shortcuts that allows you to keep frequently used functions close at hand.
For the Astra-e, Opel always makes a more consensus kit, like the thermo version. But if the set is more classic, some materials are disappointing, and the use of plastic is more present. There are two screens grouped together, the famous ” PurePanel from a German manufacturer. Unlike its French cousin, the Astra-e has a head-up display.
There are no differences behind. Now, data on the volume of the trunk are still unknown. On thermal versions, the data were quite similar. On the 308 side, we have 608L for the intercooled wagon and 548L for the battery hybrid. On the Astra, we have 597L for the estate with heat and 516L for the plug-in hybrid.
Motorization, battery, autonomy: the same electric unit
Finally, on the engine side, the differences are also very small. Two cousins create common platforms – it has been – and now also a common voltage.
Both cars have the same engine. 115 kW (156 hp) electric which provides a torque of 270 Nm, runs on a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 54 kWh, and the declared autonomy differs by several kilometers (416 km for the German versus 400 km for the French). The state-of-the-art battery with a capacity of 54 kWh has a specific composition of the NMC type: 80% nickel, 10% manganese and 10% cobalt. The latter works at a voltage of 400 volts.
Here are the known specs at the moment:
Opel Astra-e | Peugeot E-308 | |
Battery | 54 kW/h | 54 kW/h |
Autonomy WLTP | 416 km | 400 km |
Consumption WLTP mixed cycle | 14.9 kW/100 km | 12.7 kW/100 km |
Engine power | 156 hp | 156 hp |
Couple | 270 Nm | 270 Nm |
type of transmission | traction | traction |
So we have two machines which, like their thermal counterparts, provide an almost identical hard copy. Only a few pieces of data are missing, e.g trunk volume, actual autonomy or even weight both vehicles. Only a visit to the AutoPlus laboratory will allow you to more accurately decide between the two models before the upcoming road comparison!
