“We have to be extremely careful as revisionism tries to gain a foothold on quicksand,” said Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias in his speech at the 29th OSCE Ministerial Council meeting held today in Lodz, Poland.
He noted that this year’s ministerial meeting is taking place in the shadow of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “We would not have achieved this if Russia had done the obvious and respected international law,” he said.
“Respect for international law is an integral part of predictability in international relations. It is the cornerstone of our international system. And only respect for international law can help us get out of the current security crisis.”
“There is no excuse for non-compliance with international law. This is a matter of key importance,” the Foreign Minister stressed.
“National sovereignty, territorial integrity, refraining from the use or threat of use of force are fundamental principles and are non-negotiable,” he said, adding that these principles “do not depend on the specific values or historical background that a country may have or whether conditions have changed “.
“Greece is a country that is committed to creating a stable and secure environment in accordance with international law,” he stressed. “Solutions can be found through inclusive dialogue and the OSCE has a role to play.”
“Greece fully agrees with the position of the EU as set out in its statement,” said Mr. Dendias, and concluded by saying that the country will continue to fully support the current and upcoming North Macedonia Presidency in this hard work.
