​Spain have been a team that seemed to lack emotion ahead of their final matches in Group E, but the Iberians needed help from Germany to progress further in the competition. The winner of the group, Japan, will meet with the vice-champion of the world in the next match in Qatar.

After suffering a surprise defeat by Japan (2-1), Spain trembled to reach the 1/8 finals of the 2022 World Cup. There were moments when the Iberians were out of the competition (while Costa Rica were leading 2-1 against Germany), but Luis Enrique’s side took advantage of the Germans’ help (Hansy Flick’s side eventually won 4-2).
