This year’s award ceremony Oscar there will be significant changes, but they are positive.
Executive Director of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Bill Kramerannounced that now all 23 categories of nominations will be presented during the telecast.
According to a post on Variety’s website, Kramer said, “I confirm that all categories will be included in the live stream.”
The news comes after last year’s announcement that eight different Oscar categories – Documentary Short, Editing, Makeup and Hair, Music, Art Direction, Animated Short and Sound – would be “cut” and presented ahead of the main ceremony.
Unsurprisingly, this caused a backlash from people in the film industry. “We aim to put on a show that celebrates the artists, the arts and sciences, and the collective effort of filmmaking.”
This is also the mission of the Academy, and I hope we create a show that honors everyone involved in the making of the film,” Kramer added.
Cramer stated that he has had many discussions since June about restoring categories missing from the live stream. “We are very excited about the opportunity to implement this plan.”
Jimmy Kimmel will host the evening for the third time. “I like it when there is someone who is good at live broadcasting. I think it’s very important,” he said.
Asked what audiences should expect from the ceremony, Kramer said: “At this point, I will say that our anniversary, the 95th Academy Awards, is very important to us. I think the pace we’re at is interesting for what’s going to happen leading up to the 100th awards ceremony.”
