The Ukrainian military has released a video of the weapon, which it says is a nightmare for invading Russian forces and has a longer range than the HIMARS systems it received from the United States.

The recording was made public by the Ministry of Defense in Kyiv, where it was noted that the MARS II system, which Ukraine received from Germany, is a “nightmare of Russian invaders.”

“What we see here is not [lansator multiplu de rachete] American or British M270. This is the German version, the so-called MARS II. This equipment has proven itself [eficacitatea] very good,” says the Ukrainian military man speaking in the video.

When asked to explain why, the military replied that the main purpose of the launcher was to “destroy with surgical precision the accumulation of Russian troops, equipment, warehouses, refueling points, control centers.”

“And this is the difference between Soviet-made weapons and Western-style weapons, because it allows you to strike with surgical precision with maximum efficiency,” he emphasizes.

Then the military explains that according to the technical and tactical task, the range of the MARS II systems is 84 kilometers, and their accuracy is “plus/minus” 7 meters. For comparison, the missiles obtained by the Ukrainians for the HIMARS systems can hit targets at a distance of up to 70 kilometers, although the American launchers themselves have a maximum range of 270 kilometers.

“We are destroying the enemy on Ukrainian soil,” the Kyiv military officer emphasizes, adding that the German launchers have shown maximum efficiency and their operators are very satisfied with them.

Currently, the Ukrainian military has 4 rocket launcher systems

As the Ukrainian military explains in the recording, MARS II launchers are a modified version of the American M270 system, they are, among other things, equipped with an advanced fire control system developed by Airbus Defense.

At the beginning of June, Germany promised to send more such systems to Ukraine from its military warehouses, 5 of which will arrive in Kyiv by September 1.

Later, the government led by Olaf Scholz announced that it would continue to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with MARS II launchers, but kept its decision not to supply them with tanks.

Like the HIMARS systems, the MARS II launchers have a longer range, but this depends on the ammunition used, with a rate of fire of 12 missiles per 60 seconds.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov announced on Tuesday that the armed forces of Kyiv received one more rocket salvo fire system in addition to the samples in service – the French-made LRU system.

“The 4th brother of the Long Arm family arrived in Ukraine (without mentioning the volley fire systems received by Ukraine), the French LRU. The Ukrainian army is now even stronger to deter and destroy the enemy. This is the result of the apparent friendship between Volodymyr Zelensky and Emmanuel Macron,” Reznikov said on Twitter.

The “brothers” the Ukrainian minister was referring to are the HIMARS systems Ukraine received from the US on June 23, the M270 launchers sent by Britain to Kyiv in mid-July, the MARS II seen in the new video, and the aforementioned Lance Rockett . Unitary launchers.
