Former ATP No. 7 Fernando Verdasco has received a two-month suspension for an involuntary violation of the rules. He did not renew his license that allowed him to use the banned substance.

In February, the Spaniard was tested and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced that his urine contained the banned substance methylphenidate.
“The player admitted to the anti-doping rule violation and explained that he had been diagnosed with ADHD and was legally using methylphenidate as a prescribed medication for the condition under a therapeutic use authorization (TUE).” ITIA reports.
Verdasco forgot to renew his AUT when it expired and the ban will expire in January 2023.
Methylphenidate is a psychostimulant approved for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
