The weapons that NATO allies supplied to Ukraine were of great importance and helped the war-torn country repel the Russian offensive, says Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who is in Bucharest for a meeting of NATO foreign ministers.

  • “The last time I was at a meeting like this, I called for ‘guns, guns, guns.’ A lot has changed since then, and you saw how important it was, how much we were able to take advantage of it. I want to thank you for delivering the necessary weapons to Ukraine,” Dmytro Kuleba said in a joint statement with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
  • “Today I have three more words: ‘Quick, quick, quick.’ We appreciate what you have done, but the war continues. We have proven that we can defeat Russia, but decisions on weapons and the production of new weapons must be made more quickly, and deliveries must be accelerated. Here we are discussing how to speed things up,” says Kuleba.

At the same time, he says that now it is necessary to talk about the energy threat, after Russia conducted a campaign of systematic attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine.

“Now energy is as important as military aid. Transformers, generators and other equipment are very important. We need air defense – the IRIS-T, Patriot, Yastrub systems, as well as transformers and generators,” said Kuleba.

On the other hand, Jens Stoltenberg emphasized that “the message of the meeting is that NATO and partners will continue to help Ukraine.”

“We will stand by no matter how long it takes. I realized that it is extremely important that Putin does not win in Ukraine. It would be a tragedy for Ukraine, but it would be a vulnerability for the entire globe. Allies agreed to cooperate more closely with Ukraine. “Ukraine’s progress is thanks to brave soldiers, but we saw that the help of allies mattered,” Stoltenberg said.
