OUR Hugh grant he has demonstrated his dancing skills in many of the films he has starred in, from Paddington 2 to Music and Words.
However, only his dancing figures in the popular Christmas movie “Real love» keep…chasing him.
His film Richard Curtis, is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and for the occasion, Grant took part in a TV special titled Laughter and the Secrets of Love in Reality: 20 Years Later. There, he admitted that he hated the scene where his character and British Prime Minister David dance through the corridors of the Downing Street office to the song of the Pointer sisters “Jump”.
“I saw this when I got the script and I thought, I’m going to hate this scene. I didn’t like doing choreography at all, not to mention rehearsals. Even to this day, there are many people – and I agree with them – who believe that this is the most poignant scene ever put on celluloid. But there are others who like it. However, I’ll put it this way: it was my idea for the secretary to show up and “fight” David while he dances. Geniuses.”
The Love Actually director and writer added that he filmed the scene in 2002. “(Hugh) kept saying no. I think he was hoping I’d get sick or something and we’d have to cut that scene.”
Curtis said that Grant was “angry” the day the scene was filmed. The director said he was “embarrassed” to see Grant dancing on set, but added, “He’s perfect.”
“By the way, I got out of the rhythm. Especially at the beginning of the dance,” Grant added.
