Nicolae Grigorescu did not miss important auctions organized by the A10 by Artmark auction house. One of the most thoughtful works of the auction, signed by a domestic artist, is “Still Life with Autumn Fruits”, the starting price of which at the auction is 25,000 euros. The work comes from the collection of the avant-garde graphic artist Henri Daniel, a personality of the interwar cultural bohemia and a frequent exhibitor of the Official Salon. The last heritage art auction of the year also featured 3 impressive works signed by Stefan Lukian. The most valuable is the work “Innocence”, the starting price of which is 90 thousand euros. The large-scale work is part of a series of four works representing female allegories intended to decorate the interior of the house of the former minister of justice and liberal politician Victor Antonescu. Two of the four panels painted by Lucian are in the heritage of the National Art Museum of Romania, and nothing is known about the fourth today, it is considered lost. Another work by Stefan Lukian, which represents his work and which colorfully decorates the exhibition at Palatul Cesianu-Racoviță, is “Ulcior cu alăbăstrele”, whose starting price at the auction on December 15 is €30,000.

The favorite of the art public, Nikolay Tonica, is present at the Winter Auction with a tender portrait of a child, which can be seen from the profile. “Tătăroaica cu basma” has a starting price of 20,000 euros and is a symbol of what characterizes Toniciana’s universe: the purity of colors, the poetry of childhood and the oriental magic of Dobrudja.

Another impressive entry at the December 15 auction is the large-scale Mad King, signed by Corneliu Baba, with a starting price of €25,000. The symbolic work is part of the famous cycle “Mad Kings” – one of the most expressive and dissident themes that Corneliu Baba addressed during his long career.

The results of the recent Winter Auctions organized by the auction house A10 by Artmark confirmed the strength of the heritage art segment in the Romanian art market, correspondingly to the growing interest of collectors in recognized cultural values. Thus, the cost of the 2021 event was almost 1 million euros and the number of judges was 85%, and the best judges in the cultural heritage segment were led by the national artist Nicolae Grigorescu and the master Ion Cuculescu. An impressive result for the contemporary art segment dedicated to the registered artist, also at the time, Stefan Caltia, with an auction record of €41,000 (a record later surpassed).

About 200 works signed by the great masters of Romanian art – Nicolae Grigorescu, Nicolae Tonica, Teodor Aman, Teodor Palladi, Stefan Lukian, Gheorghe Petrascu, Samuel Mutzner or Ion Shuculescu can be visited for free in Cesianu-Racovițăă.
