According to a Romanian Air Force press release, four Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft landed on Friday at the 57th Air Base in Mihail Kogelnicanu, Constanța County.

The Italian contingent, consisting of approximately 150 military personnel (pilots and technical personnel) and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, together with the Romanian Air Force, will carry out enhanced air surveillance missions under NATO command for six months.

This is Mykhailo Kogelnican’s third rotation in the Royal Italian Air Force after those held in 2019 and 2021.

Joint air police missions contribute to the development of response and deterrence capabilities, as well as to the strengthening of operational interoperability between the Romanian and Italian air forces.

In addition, six CF-18 Hornet aircraft of the Spanish Air Force landed, also on Friday, at the 86th Air Base in Borcha.

The Spanish detachment (pilots and technical personnel) and the CF-18 Hornet aircraft will carry out, together with the Romanian Air Force, increased vigilance missions under the command of NATO for four months.

Joint enhanced flight surveillance missions contribute to the development of response and deterrence capabilities, as well as the consolidation of interoperability between the Romanian and Spanish air forces.
