
The United Nations nuclear watchdog has confirmed that four of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants have been reconnected to the national grid after being shut down completely earlier this week, The Guardian reports.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a statement that Ukraine reported that its power plants in Rivne, in southern Ukraine, and Khmelnytskyi had been restored. He also stated that power supply to the Chernobyl zone has been restored.
Ukrainian nuclear power company Energoatom reported on Wednesday that several units at the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant in southern Ukraine were shut down due to power loss during Russian airstrikes.
Units were also disabled at the Khmelnytsky plant in western Ukraine, according to a local official.
