The Italians entered the match better and took the reins in their hands from the first quarter. Sergio Scariolo’s team went 7-19 with Oyelettier to end the first period 12-21 with two shots from Teodosic.

Panathinaikos showed signs of a reaction in the second quarter. The Greens cut it to 28-30 with Walters, while the Italians held a steady 5-6 lead. The Shamrocks made it 38-41 at halftime with Derrick Williams.

The hosts made a breakthrough in the third quarter. Dejan Radonich’s team built the series and turned 48-55 to 62-55 with consecutive points from Walters, Lee and Williams. Virtus scored after a long time with Teodosic as the third quarter ended 67-62 thanks to a timely 3-pointer from Williams.

Thanks to a two-pointer by Ponitka, Panathinaikos took a 69–62 lead at the start of the last period. The guests reduced the score to 71-68 with Zaitekh and took the lead in the match (74-76) with Teodosic’s three-pointer. Lee tied the score at 76–76 and sent the game into overtime.

A three-pointer from Hackett gave Virtus an 80–83 lead in an extra five minutes. The hosts equalized with a basket and a Bacon foul, with Lundberg once again putting the Italians ahead. Bacon took Clover up to 86-85 with a 3-pointer, and then the Italians committed a foul on offense. Bacon fell for the blows and with perfect accuracy made the score 88-85, giving the victory to Clover.
