According to EL.AS, the leading member of the criminal organization calling itself “Thousand Night Suns” is. 27-year-old man arrested for arson of Real News offices.

A criminal case has been initiated against him on the creation of a criminal organization and joining it, arson with a danger to life, the manufacture and storage of explosives, damaging foreign property with fire and explosives, violating weapons laws and refusing to undergo fingerprinting.

The operationally structured criminal organization, as part of its continuous activities, planned and carried out the following attacks in chronological order over the course of two years (from 07/16/2020 to 07/13/2022):

• Placement and actuation of an improvised incendiary explosive device in an ATM in the early morning of 07/16/2020 at a bank branch in Marusi, which led to its complete destruction and damage to the store.
• Arson using envelopes with flammable liquid in two ATMs, in the early morning hours of November 8, 2020, in a bank branch in Pefki, which resulted in their complete destruction.
• Placement and detonation of three improvised incendiary explosive devices in the early morning of 10/15/2020 at a bank branch in Galatsi, resulting in significant damage to both the store and the neighboring apartment building.
• Placement and activation of an improvised incendiary explosive device in the early morning of July 2, 2021 at the entrance of a car dealership in Athens, as well as setting fire to two parked cars in front of the store, causing extensive damage.
• Placement and activation of an improvised incendiary explosive device and the unsuccessful activation of another similar device in the early morning of April 27, 2022 at the party offices in Pefki, causing significant damage to the offices and a nearby store.
• Placement and activation of an improvised incendiary explosive device in the early morning of 07/13/2022 in the building where the media offices are located in Marousi, followed by significant damage to both these offices and the premises of the company located in the same building. It is noted that the resulting fire, which engulfed the third floor, threatened the employee, who was locked in her workplace on the second floor until she was released by firefighters who arrived on the scene.

In the aforementioned attack on media offices, a 27-year-old man was identified as a natural perpetrator, along with another member of the organization at the scene, who planted and detonated the aforementioned device.

During searches carried out in three houses in Prosfigika, Pefki and Agia Paraskevi, the following were discovered and seized, among other things:

• air pistol,
• 3 knives
• pepper spray,
• location device detection device,
• bag with electrical tapes, rubber cleaning gloves, absorbent cleaning cloth and candles,
• 5 wireless
• flag,
• the identity of the other person for whom the loss was reported,
• many handwritten notes
• a barrel with a liquid of unknown composition,
• clothes used in the commission of criminal acts and
• many electronic devices and SIM cards

The detainee was taken to the Prosecutor’s Office of Athens for criminal cases, and investigative actions to identify the remaining members of the organization continue.
