France thrashed Australia 4-1 in Group D at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but there is more than just cause for joy in the Blues camp. In the 13th minute, defender Lucas Hernandez was replaced after an injury and will miss the rest of the matches.

Lucas Hernandez will no longer play at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Immediately after Australia’s goal in the 9th minute, Lucas Hernandez was injured and was replaced four minutes later by his brother Theo Hernandez.

After medical tests carried out in Qatar, the French Football Federation confirmed that it is a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee, and the final tournament is over for the Bayern Munich player, according to ESPN.

Hernandez added to an important list of French players absent due to injuries. Thus, in addition to the winner of the “Golden Ball” Karim Benzema, France cannot count on Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, Presnel Kimpembe and Christopher Nkunka.

France have been drawn in Group D at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar alongside Tunisia, Denmark and Australia.
