The investigation into her case is in full swing. “The Ark of Peace”like two juvenile prosecutors now, Ike. Kopelaki and Daphni-Kyriaki Zichli continue the criminal preliminary investigation, calling new witnesses who can testify.
There are two offenses being investigated by the prosecutor’s office: the first concerns a serious crime related to the cruel treatment of a minor through negligence, and the second – with infliction of bodily harm to a weak one.
It is expected that the investigation will be completed immediately, and from tomorrow the first witnesses will begin to testify – the children who lived in the buildings and also worked in them.
The information says that among them there is a witness living abroad who said that he wants to testify at the prosecutor’s office. At the moment, under the prosecutor’s control are four people. This is Father Antonio, against whom the 19-year-old prisoner filed a complaint about sexual harassment, as well as three other employees of the Kivotos structures.
The prosecutor’s office is investigating at least 10 complaints it has received from the ombudsman, most of which concern abuse, corporal punishment, forced labor and the exclusion of children from school.
According to the information, already at the end of August, the prosecutor’s office received two consecutive e-mails from the Ombudsman, but without a direct reference to the victim of sexual violence.
The prosecutor’s office will consider the case step by step and, based on the evidence received by them, will determine their further actions.
For the time being, it is considered appropriate that evidence be given by the first witnesses who can testify or corroborate complaints.
However, even if there is evidence of other acts that fall under the scope of sexual violence, such as harassment or intimidation, for example, prosecutors will consider whether they qualify as a crime.
It is possible that the materials of the case, which could have been initiated in other cities of Greece, where there are Kivotos structures, can be combined with the case currently in the hands of the juvenile prosecutor’s office in Athens.
