How MES “recognizes” success: Olympians from several disciplines receive scholarships for only one

Student Olympians from several disciplines at national or international competitions receive a scholarship only once. Last year, the Ministry of Education established by its order that the scholarship for successful work in the amount of 500 lei is not accumulated.

The ministerial order, which sets the minimum amount of scholarships, says that “students who are eligible to receive both a performance scholarship and a merit scholarship or a tuition scholarship must choose one of them, having the option of choosing the one with a higher value or provided for a longer period of time”.

If a student wins an Olympiad in several disciplines, both national and international, he will have to choose which scholarship he wants to receive, since their accumulation is not allowed, writes Free Europe.

Sick Romania. “We live 5 years less than the average EU resident”

A young doctor, the initiator of the Law on Mobile Medical Assistance, in his doctoral thesis reveals how dangerous the health condition of Romanians in rural areas is.

The rural population of Romania is neglected in terms of access to primary health care services. The lack of targeted research and official assessments of this phenomenon makes it impossible for the state to intervene, which has not formed a responsible state policy for decades.

Established in 2014, the association of doctors, in which they work on a volunteer basis, developed a functional model of a mobile public service that would allow specialized medical personnel to move in rural areas. In March 2022, the Caravana cu Medici initiative, which has already been tested in more than 150 medical trips across the country, became the model for the Law on Mobile Medical Care.

One of the initiators of such a legislative approach is Vlad Berbekar, a therapist. Berbecar specialized in this niche, the need for medical care in the villages of Romania, and in 2022 he received his doctorate from the Karol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Rural Health Assessment”, writes PressOne

Constanta and its hope on the map of seaports: European top

The port of Konstanz has the second largest increase in the volume of transported goods in 2021, plus 26% compared to the pandemic year 2020, after the Belgian port of Zeebrugge (+27%). Romania had the second highest growth rate compared to 2011. And 2022 brought new progress, as a result of blocking Ukrainian ports.

Conversely, major ports in the EU’s top 10 in terms of traffic, such as Piraeus or Algeciras (Spain), continued to suffer from a decrease in 2021 compared to 2020 due to the disruption of supply chains caused by the pandemic, write a management course

Plahotniuka’s PDM reached PSDE. To Cholaku: “Here is the most important resource that will bridge the gap between you and the Romanians”

Vlada Plahotniuc’s Democratic Party of Moldova was restored. The European Social Democratic Party (PSDE) has a new leadership, a different symbol, a statute and a changed program, the leaders of the new formation say. Romanian politicians were also present at the party’s revival event in Chisinau, among them former Romanian Defense Minister Vasile Dincu and PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu, who praised the strategic partnership between the two formations. “Here is the most important resource that will bridge the gap between you and the Romanians,” Ciolacu said. While in Chisinau, PSD president also had a meeting with pro-Russian mayor Ion Ceban. according to the RFI

One of the post-collective reforms failed: heads of clinical departments in hospitals will be appointed directly, without competition

In Romanian hospitals, departments where, in addition to medical activities, education or scientific research are carried out, are called clinical departments. From 2016 until today, the position of the head of the clinical department was won by a competition, in which scientific and pedagogical workers could participate regardless of their degree. Thus, this position could also be filled by a well-trained university assistant, even if the department also had professors or associate professors. However, from now on, the heads of clinical departments will be appointed directly, except when there are several persons with the same higher education in the department.writes Libertatea.

A Time Machine Journey, Part II: Small Romanian Fairs of the Interwar Period

Today we are going to ten small towns of the interwar era, towns that in some places have not overcome their rural state, with dusty streets and no electricity. However, other fairs had great potential. You’ll notice, of course, that most of them look the same (stupidly) today, a sign that their urban energy heralded centuries ago has dissipated. Welcome back to the time machine!

It is a quiet city devoid of industrial life. When the trumpet extinguishes the regiment, the traffic in the streets stops. The modest houses lined up along the streets are closed with shutters, and the large gates, gaps in the walls between the houses, are fenced off. You can think that you are under siege in the city, constantly under threat. Only a nice cafe – with a restaurant and pastry shop in one place – still has lighted windows, attracts the most restless or officials and officers who lead the life of the settlers.

Beautiful, war-ready buildings line the edge of the terrace. Here is a sun-baked tuberculosis sanatorium, further down the valley is the Maiorescu secondary school, which is rather cramped in space and poor in educational material. Near him is the financial management, which is more spacious than a high school. In addition, Ayudul is clean, electrically lit, with well-paved and well-kept streets, writes Dela0

Pro-Russian forces and kleptocratic groups are seeking the fall of Maya Sandu’s government

The Republic of Moldova is once again experiencing several crises: energetic, because Russia has reduced the supply of electricity and gas as much as possible, and the country barely has time to cover the necessary with the help of Romania and the European Union on the threshold of winter; economic, exacerbated by the energy, complex context throughout Europe, as well as the war in Ukraine, on the one hand, the flow of refugees, which create enormous financial pressure on this small state, as well as the loss of some export goods to Ukraine and Russia; political, because the popularity of Maya Sandu and her government is falling, and the party of Ilan Shor, a politician on the run because he faces criminal charges, is funding protests against the current government. In addition, pro-Russian forces are taking advantage of the difficult economic situation to promote the downfall of the executive and possibly even early elections, writes PressHub
