This shocked French public opinion about the rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl in the southern part of the country, just weeks after the brutal crime with the 12-year-old victim in Paris.
On Friday, police arrested a 31-year-old man accused of raping and murdering a 14-year-old girl after she forced her into her car as she left school that day.
Authorities said Vanessa, 14, was found dead in an abandoned house, and the 31-year-old was quickly identified using CCTV footage.
The public prosecutor in Azana (south of France) told reporters on Saturday that when police came to the 31-year-old man’s apartment in Marmad, he told them: “I know why you are here” and confessed to the crime.
According to the authorities, the arrested man was convicted in 2006 (at that time he was 15 years old) for the sexual abuse of a minor and sentenced to 15 days of suspended imprisonment.
The brutal crime comes just weeks after the brutal murder of 12-year-old Lola, whose body was found in a suitcase in Paris.
According to authorities, the unfortunate student was raped and tortured before she was finally killed. The 24-year-old woman was arrested and charged.
Lola’s murder also sparked political tensions, with the opposition raising the issue of stricter immigration management, as the 24-year-old girl arrested was a migrant whose residence permit had expired.
