Russia on Saturday condemned Warsaw’s “provocative” decision after Poland denied Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov entry to its territory to attend an OSCE ministerial meeting, AFP reported.
“Poland’s decision (…) is provocative and unprecedented,” the Russian Foreign Ministry responded in a statement.
“In this way, Warsaw not only discredited itself, but also caused irreparable damage to the authority of the entire Organization” for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), accuses Russian diplomacy in a statement.
Poland, which is hosting an OSCE ministerial meeting in early December, announced on Friday that it had denied Sergei Lavrov entry to its territory.
“We expect that the Russian Federation will choose the members of its delegation in accordance with the current rules,” a source from the annual OSCE chairmanship, currently chaired by Warsaw, told AFP.
According to this source, the Russian delegation should not include persons who came under the sanctions of the European Union after Russia’s attack on Ukraine on February 24, in particular Sergey Lavrov.
