Thessaloniki: they “opened” cars near cemeteries and beaches

The “targets” of the three men were hit by cars parked near cemeteries and in coastal areas.

The three men are accused of committing a total of 18 burglaries in the Serres and Kavala districts since last September. Two of them (24 and 50 years old) have been detained, the identity of the third (33 years old) has been established and is on the wanted list.

According to the police, the total amount of the loot as a result of the action attributed to them is estimated at about 6,000 euros. Of the total number of burglaries, six were committed outside the cemeteries in various areas of Serres and the rest in the seaside areas of Kavala (Ammolofi, Ofrinio, Nea Peramos, etc.).

The two arrested were discovered Saturday afternoon in Thessaloniki after a burglary they committed in Kavala. They were driving a car and, trying to avoid police control, they increased their speed, crashing into a patrol car. They abandoned the car and tried to run on foot, but were stopped.

The police seized two cars, which, apparently, were used by attackers to commit thefts, as well as a small amount of marijuana found on one of the detainees. Investigation EL.AS. continues to establish their possible involvement in other similar criminal acts.

The arrested were taken to the prosecutor’s office of the first instance in Kavala and sent to the investigator for an apology.
