PNL MEP Rares Bohdan said on DigiFM’s National Audience show on Thursday that Romania has the best chance of being accepted into the Schengen area in December. However, if this does not happen, the procedure will be started all over again and the waiting period will be at least two years. “This would be a problem of the functionality of Europe,” says the MEP.
Raresh Bohdan explained that the positive report of the European Commission, presented on Wednesday, is an additional reason for Romania’s admission to Schengen.
“This is the highest (n.red odds) so far of any attempt in 11 years and I think the signal given yesterday, the extremely clear position of the European Commission after the vote in the European Parliament, it is clear that the pressure remains solely on the JAI Council, which will December 8-9. Yesterday’s position, extremely clear and well-articulated, is an extremely clear signal that Romania is closer than ever to the Schengen area,” he said.
