The Liberals announced on Wednesday after a meeting of the National Standing Bureau about the decision to offer the coalition two options for increasing pensions. The first option involves a gradual increase of certain categories of pensions, the second – a 15% increase of all pensions.

“The first proposal is aimed at increasing the budget allocated to pensions, after which gradually, at certain pension thresholds, pensions will increase through certain additional payments. The second is aimed at a general increase of all pensions by 15%. These two issues will be discussed in the coalition, most likely next week,” PNL spokesman Jonutz Stroe said.

At the same time, the leadership of the PNL also talked about the social assistance that the government will allocate in the coming winter months.

According to Stroe’s statements, the government will issue an emergency decree “in the area of aid, in the area of food, there will be an emergency decree that will extend the program of 50 euros allocated every two months until 2023.”

There will also be data and energy assistance of 700 lei for people with an income of up to 2,000 lei per month.

“Through the cohesion fund, an energy aid program in the amount of 700 lei for the cold season will be approved. The amount will be allocated for the current year at the end of January, and for 2023 700 lei will be allocated in September. The proposal is that the age limit for receiving assistance should be lowered to 60 years, and that everyone with an income of up to 2,000 lei should receive it,” explained Stroe.

The Liberal said that the first heating measure is aimed at around 4 million beneficiaries, and the one with €50 at around 2.4 million.

It will be recalled that the PNL and PSD could not reach a consensus on the percentage that will be given for increasing the pension and its distribution.

PSD has publicly stated that it does not abandon the idea of increasing pensions for low-income categories.

“Together with the Minister of Finance, a decision was made that the amount of the pension should be 15 percent, but this does not mean that we will agree to a 15 percent increase in the pension equally for everyone. This is absolutely wrong,” said Marcel Cholaku at a press conference in Alexandria.
