Charles’ first royal birthday

OUR King Charles celebrated his 74th birthday today and on this occasion received the title of Great Windsor Park Ranger.

Charles, the oldest crowned king in British history when he succeeded his mother to the throne in September, will celebrate his first birthday as king in private, without any public events.

However, Buckingham Palace announced that he had officially embarked on his new role as a ranger and released a new photo of Charles.

His father, Prince Philip, has held the title since 1952, when his wife Elizabeth was crowned queen and succeeded her father, George VI.

Queen Victoria is another blue-blooded person who has held this position, which, among other things, includes responsibility for the day-to-day operation, protection and maintenance of Windsor Great Park, a royal park on the Berkshire-Surrey border.

Prince William and his family were among the first to wish the King a happy birthday, posting a photo on their official Twitter account, writing: “Happy birthday, His Majesty the King!”
