According to Russian press agencies, Lavrov left for Russia on Tuesday afternoon after completing the program of meetings on the agenda of his participation in the summit, reports Agerpres.

In addition to participating in a number of meetings on energy, health care and food security, the head of Russian diplomacy met with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The main topic was the war launched by Russia against Ukraine.

In his speeches, Lavrov accused Ukraine of “categorically refusing any negotiations” with Russia and proposing “unrealistic” conditions for their restoration, including the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine before any negotiations.

The draft final communiqué of the G20 summit refers to the “war in Ukraine” and the “enormous human suffering” and problems that this conflict causes on a global scale, but at the same time it also reflects the different positions of the G20 member states against this war.

On the other hand, Lavrov’s departure from the summit coincides with Russia’s most powerful missile attack on Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict. On Tuesday afternoon, the Russian army fired about a hundred missiles, mainly at Ukrainian energy infrastructures. As a result of this raid on Tuesday evening, half of the capital Kyiv and about 80% of Lviv remained without electricity.
