Poland’s foreign ministry said Tuesday night that a “Russian-made missile” was responsible for killing two people in the eastern village of Przewodów on Tuesday afternoon, The Guardian reported.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lukash Yasina, said: “On November 15, 2022, for several hours, a massive shelling of the entire territory of Ukraine and its critical infrastructure was observed by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. At 3:40 p.m., a Russian-made rocket fell in the village of Przewodów, killing two citizens of the Republic of Poland.”

The report also states that the Russian ambassador to Poland was summoned to give an explanation.

President Andrzej Duda discussed this issue with US President Joe Biden at night, reports Wyborcza Gazeta.

Poland is considering the possibility of activating Article 4 of the NATO Treaty

According to Polish government spokesman Piotr Mueller, authorities in Warsaw are debating whether to request Article 4 consultations.

Article 4 provides that: “The Parties shall consult whenever, in the opinion of either Party, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of either Party is threatened.”

The 30 member states then begin formal consultations at the request of the threatened member. During discussions, it is analyzed whether there is a threat and how to counter it, and decisions are made unanimously.

However, Article 4 does not mean that there will be direct pressure to act.

This consultation mechanism has been launched several times in the history of NATO. An example can be a year ago, when Turkish soldiers were killed during an attack from Syria.

In this case, NATO decided to hold consultations, but did not take any action.

Two rockets fell on the territory of Poland on the border with Ukraine, two people died as a result of the explosion. US intelligence sources told AP that they were two stray Russian missiles.

The Pentagon has not yet confirmed the information. At the same time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that the missiles are Russian. Moscow denies the attack.
