Romania suffered a dramatic defeat against Montenegro and can no longer advance to the semifinals of the European Women’s Handball Championship. At the end of the match in Skopje, Kristina Nyagu spoke about what bothered her the most: the refereeing of Austrians Ana Vranes and Marlis Wenniger.

Kristina Nyagu is outraged by the defeat with Montenegro: “These girls should not judge anyone”

The best scorer in the history of Europeans (296 goals in final tournaments) Nyagu said that Romania deserved the victory and

“I don’t know how many European matches have been played this way. I don’t care what they say now that we Romanians are like that, that we talk about arbitration when we lose. If you still don’t understand that we were the team that deserved to win, that means you’re not Romanian or you don’t care about sports! It was clearly visible on the field.

I really want to see the final stage. I’m 99.99% sure that the Montenegrin player did a double before going 7 meters. But of course the referees don’t want to watch the video of any of our matches.

I have nothing to say. Today we fought from the first to the last minute. The team was sensational. We deserved to win. These girls who judged us should not judge anyone!

The referees won’t catch me. I was very tired, it was the fifth match. I was constantly playing stalker or man-man. I think I also gave a superhuman effort playing defense. The judges don’t knock me out of rhythm, but it was clear that they judged that way from the first minute.

I have nothing to do with Montenegro, I love Montenegro. The girls are not to blame. But we were the better team. I deserved at least a point. We were the better team, I have to say that again. But you can’t play handball like that. We can be Romanian, non-Romanian, Danish, but you can’t play with this kind of arbitration.

You cannot play against such decisions. These girls don’t think they know what happened today, they don’t know what they judged. I would like the referees to watch the matches and see their mistakes. At our matches, referees do not go to see what happened. At other matches, he always watches video.

I still think that in the last phase Itana Hrbic did a double dribble before reaching 7 meters. Judges never want to see phases on the monitor. And I don’t understand why. It was an extremely important match. I think it’s not right” – Christina Nyaguquoted by GSP.
