The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that 100 Canadian citizens have been added to the list of people banned from entering Russia, including actor Jim Carrey and writer Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid’s Tale, The Guardian reports.
Officials, businessmen, activists or journalists accused of “aggressive anti-Russian speeches” were included in the list of new sanctions.
Among the 100 Canadians banned from entering Russia are the famous actor Jim Carrey, who after the Russian invasion declared that he was a supporter of Ukraine, and the writer Margaret Atwood, who also criticized the Kremlin.
The announcement came as Canada announced a new round of sanctions against Russia, this time against police officers, prosecutors and judges.
