After the Russians won the duel at the 2022 Tournament of Champions, Rublev signed on camera, and the message was clear: “Peace, peace, peace. That’s all we need.”

Among Russian athletes, Andrii is a rarity. Since the beginning of the conflict, he has opposed the war in Ukraine.

Rublev also signed a message on camera during the tournament in Dubai (February 25, 2022): “No war, please,” he said then.

Rublev beat Medvedev in three sets 6-7(7), 6-3, 7-6(7) after a match lasting two hours and 34 minutes, and will next face Novak Djokovic.
