In Cluj – FC Arges, the score for the 18th round of the Romanian Championship is scheduled for Monday 14 November from 18:00 and will be broadcast live on Digi Sport 1, Orange Sport 1 and Prima Sport 2.
U Cluj and Arges will meet at Cluj Arena in the last scheduled Super League round before the three-week break caused by the World Cup group stage in Qatar.
Cluj are back in the playoffs after losing 0-1 to Universitat Craiova (d) and are 13th in the table with 17 points from 17 games played so far.
The Red Caps, however, won 4-0 against CSM Alexandra in the Romanian Cup (d) played in the middle of last week, so coach Eugen Neagoe is optimistic ahead of the match against FC Arges, especially after three wins in the last four championship games at home.
“It will be a tough game even though they lost 5-0 in their last league match against Sepsi. “Arjesh FC has valuable players who have shown this over time, but I am confident and hopeful that we will approach this mini-holiday with three points,” said Eugene Nyagoe.
Transylvania’s big problem is a lack of performance, Cluj are the second weakest attacking team in the Super Lig with 12 goals scored (only KS Mioveni scored less, 10 goals).
“I would like us to play much better, much more enjoyable, to score more goals,” said Eugen Nyagoe.
FC Argesh continues its fluctuating development under Marius Kroitoru, so a 1-0 win in Arad against UTA was followed by a dramatic defeat in Trivala, 0-5 against Sepsi.
Pitesti are currently 11th in the Superliga with 20 points from 17 matches, well short of their stated goal at the start of the season, namely a second consecutive play-off appearance.
FC Arges have just one win in their last six matches (four in the league and two in the Romanian Cup) and have the second weakest defense in the Super League with 25 goals conceded (only Mioveni conceded more with 26).
“There are four stages of the championship and one stage of the Romanian Cup left this year, we will start with an away match in “U Cluj”, an important match for us. We will do everything possible to win because we have to collect points,” said Konstantin Schumacher, “second” after Marius Kreitoru.
In the round, “Arjes” beat “U Cluj” with a score of 3:1 (Ishfan 43, 46, Garita 53 / Ad. Belan 4), but the Transylvanians led 1:0 and missed a penalty due to Purece (17) and people from Pityeshti returned the result after the withdrawal of Fl. Ilie (39).
