On Sunday, an explosion occurred on one of the busiest pedestrian streets in the center of Istanbul, Reuters reports. According to preliminary data, at least one person died and many more were injured.
State broadcaster TRT and other media showed ambulances and police heading to the scene from Istanbul’s popular Istiklal Street in the Beyoglu district. The state-run Anadolu Agency reported that the cause of the explosion was still unknown.
Pictures published on social networks show the exact moment of the explosion.
Other images taken by surveillance cameras show what appears to be luggage left by someone, and the explosion appears to have occurred at that location.
