Romania beat Spain in dramatic fashion 28-27 with a last-second goal and are now hoping for a remarkable run into the semi-finals of the European Women’s Handball Championship.
The chances of reaching the semi-finals of the final European tournament are, however slim, and while the maths says they can get there, Florentin Pera’s girls can only hope.

Having entered the main Group II with zero points, Romania need the following results to reach the EC semi-finals in a surprising way.

- France must win all the matches they have to play and thus finish Main Group II with the maximum result (10 points).
- The national team of Montenegro must lose all the matches it has to play (only three).
- The Netherlands need to win just one game and that is against Montenegro. However, it is necessary for Bataves to lose to Spain.
