The United States is announcing another package of security assistance to Ukraine, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Thursday, CNN cites.
The new package will also include other air defense assets, such as missiles for the HAWK air defense systems, as well as the Avenger air defense systems.
“Today, the United States will announce another package of security assistance to Ukraine, including significant air defense contributions,” Sullivan told reporters at the White House.
“This equipment will complement other air defense contributions announced by our allies and partners,” he added.
“These enhanced air defenses will be critical for Ukraine as Russia continues to use Iranian-made cruise missiles and drones to attack critical civilian infrastructure,” the US official said.
Spain will also send two more Hawk air defense systems to Ukraine to add to the four missile launchers already sent to help the country defend itself against Russian missiles, the Spanish government announced on Thursday, according to AFP.
