On Thursday, Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke announced details of electricity prices for next year, which will be included in a draft emergency resolution in the next period.

  • “We agreed that we will continue to provide a price of 0.68 lei (not correct 0.68 lei) for citizens who consume up to 100 kilowatts, 0.80 lei for those who consume up to 255 kilowatts. The same price will be for those who consume more than 255 kilowatts before this ceiling, but anything over that will have a different level of payment and the amount you bypassed 1.3 will be taken into account.
  • In addition, it was decided to keep this amount at 1 lei per kilowatt for small and medium-sized enterprises, and 1.3 lei for large consumers, after which all these technical elements will be included in the draft emergency order. This was announced by Prime Minister Nikolay Chuke on Thursday in Suceava.

He said electricity generators currently receive additional revenue and a tax will be applied to the generator above certain price levels so that “with the money from the generator tax we can cover the amounts that we use for compensation”.

Answering the question when these measures will be implemented, the Prime Minister said: “Probably, from January 1, we will go for another year.”
