A Russian sailor who was part of the crew of the “Moscow” was summoned to the Military Commissariat, although he is considered missing for more than six months since the sinking of the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, reports Meduza.

One of the sailor’s friends told the local news site “Fontanka” that “Mykhailo” (Russian journalists changed his name out of respect for the family) joined the service less than a year ago after graduating from the railway department and worked in the fields for some time.

The cruiser “Moscow” went to sea on April 8, when the boy’s relatives last spoke to him. The ship sank six days later.

Later, the soldier’s friends contacted his colleagues to find out at least something about Mykhailo’s fate.

“Some time before the explosion, he went to the warehouse to get food, and after that no one saw him,” said one of the sailors, Mykhailo was a cook on the ship.

Relatives of the sailor on the “Moscow” hope that he is still alive

Russian journalists note that although more than six months have passed since then, Mykhailo’s relatives and some of his friends continue to hope that he survived.

“Perhaps he was rescued by a Turkish ship or he is in the hospital and cannot contact us,” says one of his friends.

“I will never believe that I will not see my son again. We will find you, there is no other way!”, his mother wrote on Vkontakte, the Russian equivalent of Facebook.

At the end of October, the woman received a summons from one of the military commissars in St. Petersburg, in which Mykhailo was asked to appear at the police station for mobilization.

Mobilization with song in Russia

Russian journalists note that even if the information about what happened did not reach the military committee, the situation is still strange, since the current military meeting of Mykhailo has not yet officially ended.

In connection with Russian journalists, the representatives of the military commissariats reported that the databases of the military commissariats do not always contain up-to-date information.

“If the error is confirmed, we will do everything to inform the relatives. Unfortunately, we have to live in difficult, fateful times. Many people were simply not ready for them. This applies to both people and elements of the management system. “For almost 80 years, there has not been a single event of this scale, and many mechanisms, including the synchronization of databases, have stalled,” says the military commissariat of St. Petersburg.

The chaotic manner in which the mobilization was carried out by order of Vladimir Putin on September 21 caused a national scandal in Russia, the scale of the violations was so great that even state television, controlled by the Kremlin, spoke about them.

In early October, Putin personally announced that he had signed a decree that “corrects” mistakes in the mobilization process.

The Russian Ministry of Defense initially stated that the entire crew of the Moscow flagship had been evacuated, but later acknowledged the death of one sailor and 27 other sailors are missing.

By autumn, the court in Sevastopol recognized 17 of them as dead. Mykhailo is among those who are still considered missing.
