
The Spanish national team unexpectedly lost to Poland with the score 21-22 and occupies the last place in Group D of the European Women’s Handball Championship.
The 2019 World Cup runners-up were trailing 20-16, but Poland made an impressive comeback to win by scoring six straight goals. The Iberians reduced the difference, but could not equalize the score.
Spain will fight for entry into the main groups with Germany, which lost to the national team of Montenegro, but beat Poland in the first match.

- The top three teams from each group will advance to the main groups (November 10-16), a stage of the competition where they will enter only on points gained against other qualified teams.
- The national teams occupying the first two places in the Main Groups will meet in the semi-finals (1st place in GP1 vs. 2nd place in GP2 / 2nd place in GP1 vs. 1st place in GP2).
- The medal matches will take place on November 20, 2022.
