After a failure with Farul Constanta and then with Craiova University, FCSB managed to win the first derby of the season against Rapid (3-1) in front of more than 30 thousand spectators present at the National Arena in Bucharest (record support for this season ).

Andrej Cordea, Andrea Compagno and Octavian Popescu scored for the team coached by Mihai Pintilius, while Marko Dugandzic scored from 11 meters in Giulesti. What’s more, Adi Mutu’s side were also outnumbered after Junior Morais was sent off for Cordea’s goal.

Andrej Cordea was man of the match at the National Arena with a goal and assist for Octavian Popescu, directly involved in the phase in which Junior Morais was red-carded by Sebastian Kolcescu.

“This is a derby. We felt it from Saturday when the fans came to motivate us. I think it’s a much bigger rivalry than Steaua-Dynamo. I’m glad we managed to win.

The atmosphere is good. We looked like a real team. From the moment we arrived at the stadium, we managed to motivate ourselves.

I have never seen this team so motivated and eager to win. We helped ourselves with Mihai Pintilius and Thomas Neubert.

Every player played with heart. We came more motivated than them. It was a flash. We felt like a family.

Since I arrived, in a year and a half, I haven’t felt anything like that.” – the FCSB football player told OrangeSport.

However, his statement did not go unnoticed, former player of the Romanian national team Basarab Panduru reacted to Cordea’s words.

“We keep thinking he meant that you don’t really understand some things. Keep it up, because they’re off the hook, they’re family…

As if something good happened to them after Dicka left. Or am I wrong? I don’t know…” Basarab told Pandur.

Nicolae Dike announced his resignation from FCSB last week after the defeat suffered by the Romanian vice-champion at the Cluj Arena against Cluj University (1-2).

Since then, FCSB financier Gigi Becali has drawn media attention to several replacement options for the team’s bench, including Ilie Poenara, Andrii Prepelita, Eugen Neagoe and Liviu Chobotariu.

At the moment, the first red-blue team is headed by Mihai Pintilius.
