Holger Rooney ended his dream week in Paris-Berce in the best possible way, winning his first ATP Masters 1000 title after defeating Novak Djokovic in the final.
Holger Rune defeated Novak Djokovic in the final of the Paris Masters
Only one break made the difference in the first two sets, with Nole winning the first 6-3 and Holger triumphing by the same score in the second.
Djokovic was the first to win the rematch in the deciding set, leading 3-1, but blamed some of his problems on his left shin and made more and more errors. Ward Patrika Muratoglu took advantage, quickly won a break and took the lead in overtime (6-5).
Roon held up incredibly under pressure (even if he committed two double faults), saved 6(!) break points and closed out the match at the second opportunity, after two hours and 33 minutes of play, with a score of 7-5.
