A few days ago the exhibition “Multiplyยป artist Chrysantis Maggidis in the cultural center “Villa Stella” in the municipality of Heraklion, Attica.
Before November 6 2022 the public will have the opportunity to observe the artist’s works made in charcoal technique, limited by the strictly geometric rectangular shape of the paper and its limited dimensions.
The creations of Maggidis depict anonymous and faceless human figures, devoid of clothes, faces and physiognomic features, a distinct identity and diversity, with no clear distinction between male and female. They move, hover, appear or sway like meteors, like shadows in the dark, in a state of emotional and psychological instability. They express in universal body language a wide range of dark emotions that bind and enslave human nature.
The exhibition was first successfully presented between May and June 2022 at the Municipal Gallery of Lamia. This event is held under the auspices of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Heraklion, Attica. The opening, which was held by the mayor of Heraklion, Mr. Nikos Babalos, was attended by members of the Greek Parliament, representatives of the regional administration and local government, journalists and artists.
Chrysanti Maggidis was born in Greece (Athens), lived and grew up in the USA, traveled extensively and was educated both in America and in Europe, assimilating and combining influences from both continents. He attended Dickinson College, USA, graduating in 2016 with honors and a triple major in fine arts, archeology and art history. In 2021, he received his Master’s Degree in Greek and Eastern Mediterranean Archeology (MA) from the Department of Archeology of E.C.P.A. and was subsequently accepted as a PhD at the same university in classical archaeology.
