On Monday morning, Romania will have 3 billion cubic meters of gas in storage, which means a degree of filling of 97.7% of the total storage capacity, according to data provided to Agerpres by Transgaz.

Compared to the same period last year, Romania has 701 million cubic meters more gas in storage. The minimum threshold approved for Romania in the new regulation of the European Commission, 80%, was reached on September 17.

State Secretary of the Energy Ministry George Niculescu said on Thursday that there is no reason to believe that there will be problems with ensuring supply in the winter if the thermal regime is normal.

  • “Unlike last year, we are starting with a very high degree of gas storage filling, more than 97%, i.e. 2.970 billion cubic meters.
  • This is a very high degree that gives us security.
  • This percentage will help us survive a normal winter without any problems in terms of thermal indicators,” he said.

At the same time, coal production was increased to compensate for the lower level of reservoir filling.
