New videos appeared on social networks showing that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, sent units of the Presidential Regiment to fight on the front lines.

One of the recordings shows Ukrainian soldiers trying to protect their trenches passing through the forest during an intense firefight with the Russian invaders.

– Take it from here! one of the Ukrainian soldiers shouted at the Russians during several exchanges of obscenities between the defenders.

“- the sniper woke up. I don’t know where he is,” says another.

“- They woke up well, didn’t they?

“Yes, I told you,” continues the dialogue, while bullets are flying around.

After several moments of shelling Ukrainian soldiers in the direction of enemy positions, one of them notices that a sniper is shooting directly above their heads. “Hrin knows him, I’m shooting from 3 sides,” replies another.

The second frame shows an even more intense battle, one of the Ukrainian soldiers says that the Russians are attacking head-on. “Let me fuck with a machine gun,” says one of the Ukrainians.

The whole scene seems to be marked by confusion between the defenders under heavy fire. At some point, some of them seemed to be frightened by a comrade’s shot.

“It’s all right, it was me,” he assures. A few minutes later, the Kyiv military sees a drone, they seem unsure whether it is theirs or Russian.

“- If it’s not ours, then let’s knock it down,” calls one. “It must be ours,” concludes another.

While the exact location of the video is unknown, if it was filmed in the Donetsk region, as several observers of the war in Ukraine claim, it is very likely that the fighting is taking place in the Bakhmut area, where Russian forces are desperately trying to break through the defense line to the strategic city .

Russian military bloggers said last week that Moscow forces had succeeded in capturing Zaitseve, a key town south of Bakhmut on the main road.

But Russian troops pay dearly for every meter gained. “It’s a meat grinder,” says Jakub Yanovsky, one of the military analysts who writes articles for the well-known website Oryx, which monitors military equipment and casualties suffered by both sides of the war in Ukraine.

Journalists from a German news agency reported seeing a captured Russian T-80 tank and a 2C23 Nona SVK self-propelled mortar, now under the control of Ukrainian crews, which fired at Russian positions near Bakhmut.

The separate presidential regiment “Hatman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi”, which includes the soldiers in the video, is a special military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that provides protection for the President of Ukraine, his family, presidential residences and offices.

In 2022, it was expanded to brigade level. It is not known how many of his soldiers were sent to the front.
