A premiere on the Romanian art market, works from the collection of writer Marin Sorescu, together with contemporary works of art signed by top artists, are being auctioned at the biggest contemporary art event of the season. The postmodern and contemporary art auction brings together investable works that have the potential to increase in value in a short period of time for investors seeking refuge in art from market turbulence.

Also, in an environment where the art auction market is the only one that has not risen in price in the face of inflation, contemporary art is gaining popularity and investors are enjoying stability and works that are resistant to economic downturns. Investment artists from the contemporary art auction on November 15: Corneliu Baba, Ion Suculescu, Sabin Balasha, Stefan Kaltia or Adrian Heni.

Adrien Geny, who revolutionized the global contemporary art scene with his lavish works depicting the brutality of the darkest moments of recent history, is up for auction on November 15 with two works. The most valuable is “Bomb”, with a starting price of 80,000 euros, which depicts the image of a detonated bomb, which evokes feelings of pain and vulnerability, deeply hidden in the collective consciousness. Today, works signed by Geni are represented in the most important museums, galleries and private collections of the world, followed by the greatest collectors of the moment. The work “Studio Scene 6” was sold for 1.2 million euros last month at Art Fair, an event organized under the auspices of Art Basel. The work with Genie’s autograph went to a private collection in the USA. In Romania, any appearance signed by a preferred artist is seen by investors as a hoardable asset. It is the same with the work “Turn”, which at the auction on November 15 has a starting price of 15,000 euros.

In a unique way, during the event on November 15, a series of works by the writer Marin Sorescu, who held the position of Minister of Culture in 1993-1995, appeared. Apart from his literary talent, Marin Sorescu was distinguished by his concern for painting, opening numerous exhibitions in the country and abroad together with the artists of that time. The postmodern and contemporary art auction features four works from the prestigious collection of Marin Sorescu: “Still Life with Orange, Fruit Bowl and Pipe” signed by Ion Pachea and “Butterfly” by Vincenzio Grigorescu, with a starting price of €1,500 each. ; “Owl and Fish” by Iona Alina Georgiou from 1,200 euros and “The Road Home” by Gheorghe Vranenantu for 1,000 euros.

Another impressive appearance at the auction on November 15 is the work “Rarified Atmosphere” signed by Ion Tzuculescu. The work, which has a starting price of €40,000, comes from the collection of Maria and Ioana Zuculescu and covers all the defining elements of the totemic period of Zuculescu.

About 200 works from the auction of postmodern and contemporary art are exhibited in the palace of Cesianu-Rakovice. Admission is free and the exhibition is open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday. The auction on November 15 will take place from 19:00 in the Casa A10 by Artmark auction room, as well as online on the Artmark Live 2.0 platform.
