A few days ago, we announced a slight increase in new car sales, with figures up from last year. Nothing amazing for as much, unfortunately, but a sign of a small improvement all the same. However, customers are still in short supply and manufacturers are still suffering from semiconductor shortages, delaying production and supply. The situation is especially difficult forautomotive industry, starting in 2020 with the onset of the healthcare crisis. And there is no doubt that this should not happen immediately, because in addition to this, the environmental standards are becoming stricter. In a word, bad weather for manufacturers and for the automotive industry as a whole.

Declining sales

But what about the second-hand market? Well, unfortunately, this is far from a party either. To tell the truth, it’s even more of a disaster. Indeed, sales fell very much in October, about 14.8% compared to the same month in 2021. The figure is close to that recorded in the last ten months, with 14.3% decrease. But that’s not all, because at the same time prices continue to rise, by about 2.5% in October and 12.8% since the beginning of the year. An incredible surge, which we owe to the increase in demand, while many motorists turn to the opportunity. Success that leads to this drop in sales because there simply aren’t enough cars for everyone.

All brands are interested

With a few minor exceptions, e.g Peugeot which rose 1.3%, all manufacturers fell. This applies to Renault, which recorded a drop of 2.5%, as well as Volkswagen, which lost 1.4%. However, some manage to hold on like Kia sales of which increased by 5.4%. Hopefully things will finally get better though, as all the lights are currently red…
