“My and Ukraine’s position was that if the Russian leader comes (to the summit), Ukraine will not come,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday, Kyiv Independent reports.

The G20 summit in 2022 will be held in Indonesia on November 15. Both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin were invited to the summit.

A number of Western countries, including Britain, said Russia had “no moral right” to attend the G20 meeting because of its large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In late October, Putin said he had not decided whether he would attend the G20 meeting in Bali.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken previously told ABC News that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “rational, but the decisions he makes — or perhaps better said, his goals — are not rational.”

“What we’ve seen so far is Putin’s lack of interest in meaningful diplomacy,” Blinken said.
