The US State Department has approved the potential sale of multiple launch systems and related equipment to Finland, in a contract valued at $535 million, the Pentagon said in a statement on Wednesday, Reuters reported.
Lockheed Martin Corp LMT.N will be the prime contractor, the Pentagon said.
“Finland plans to use these defense products and services to increase its national stockpile, strengthen land and air defense capabilities on Europe’s northern flank,” the statement said.
“Increasing the national stockpile is essential for Finland’s defense and deterrence capabilities amid the deteriorating security situation in Europe,” the statement said.
