Starting in 1966, the Italian engineer developed the Ferrari 312 series, which included Niki Lauda’s car, as well as the Maranello-based manufacturer’s first turbo engine.
The golden age of Ferrari under Mauro Forghieri
Under his leadership between 1962 and 1984, Ferrari won 54 Grands Prix, four drivers’ world titles (John Surtees 1964, Niki Lauda 1975 and 1977 and Jody Scheckter 1979) and seven constructors’ titles in Formula 1.
In 1987, Forghieri left Ferrari for Lamborghini and then Bugatti, always maintaining the innovative character that characterized his career.
