The Romanian police has announced the tender received for the creation of an integrated traffic monitoring system, which also aims to install video cameras for automatic recognition of traffic registration numbers on 200 vehicles, a contract with an estimated value of more than 33.6 million lei.

The integrated traffic monitoring system proposed by the police is divided into 7 components/lots which include:

  • – purchase of the subsystem of location, monitoring and management of the car fleet and GPS equipment for vehicle monitoring
  • – acquisition of the automatic license plate recognition subsystem – LPR (License Plate Recognition), consisting of license plate recognition equipment.

Vodafone Romaniaindependently or in partnership with two other companies – Isys Professional and Advance SRL, submitted proposals for each of the 7 components proposed by the police. No other company or group of companies participated in the tender.

On the website of Advance SRL It is noted that this company is a partner of Genetec – a global provider of IP solutions for video surveillance, access control and license plate recognition integrated into a single platform called Security Center.

The Genetec Group is represented through licensed partners on six continents and in more than 80 countries.

What proposals did the police receive for another system of automatic number recognition

In addition to this tender, the Romanian police has another tender for the purchase of a surveillance and video surveillance system using LPR (License Plate Recognition) technology, which allows automatic recognition of car registration numbers.

The system will be used in accordance with the law to fulfill mandates of technical supervision of magistrates’ orders.

For this contract, the police received 2 proposals from Autonomous administration of Rasir controlled by the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI)and another from the company Silva Systems.

This system is aimed at improving the operations of the Special Operations Directorate, the only specialized structure of the Romanian police, which provides technical surveillance through specialized police officers.

The video surveillance system consists of several servers, graphics stations, 300 LPR-type IP video cameras and video management applications for these cameras.
