​PayU payment processor has estimated that in this year’s edition of Black Friday, which will take place on November 11, at the level of the e-commerce market, products and services worth approximately 510 million lei will be purchased and paid for online, easily exceeding the value of the previous year.

PayU predicts an increase in the number of transactions with online payment by about 15%, which once again confirms the interest of Romanians in this event, the company says.

Romanians will not only buy products from star categories such as IT&C or fashion, but also other categories newer to online, such as coffee, perfumes and cosmetics, toys, medical services or travel packages, as seen last year.

“In the previous edition of Black Friday, one-click payments accounted for 62% of the PayU portfolio, this share was made possible by shoppers saving their card to PayU or Google Pay to make a purchase and, implicitly, an online payment, quickly and easily , without filling in the card details for each new transaction,” says Elena Gheorghe, PayU Romania Regional Manager.

One-click payments will account for approximately 67% of all paid transactions on Black Friday 2022, up 8% from last year, and the average value of paid purchases is expected to double compared to a normal day.

As in 2021, around 9% of all online payments on Black Friday are expected to be transactions made with a card issued in another country, a consistent trend in recent years.

Merchants from the PayU portfolio that will participate in this year’s Black Friday edition include Arabesque.ro, Altex.ro, Elefant.ro, eMAG.ro, F64.ro, FashionDays.ro, Flanco.ro, Flip.ro, iStyle . ro, Jysk.ro, Noriel.ro, Pcgarage.ro, Quickmobile.ro, Studio Moderna, tazz.ro, Vivre.ro, Vodafone.ro and others.

An increase in the variety of products offered on Black Friday 2022 is also possible as a result of the development of the business segment of the marketplace, where more and more merchants who did not have their own website or operated purely in an offline environment realized that they could relatively easily engage, thus having access to a new channel through which both sales and operational processes are fast and optimized by the market provider.
