Instagram, one of the platforms of the Meta group founded and led by Mark Zuckerberg, reported on Monday the difficulties of logging in for users, some of whom mentioned accounts that were suspended or no longer accessible, AFP and Agerpres reported.
“We know some of you are having trouble accessing your Instagram account. We are dealing with this and apologize for the inconvenience,” wrote the communications department of subsidiary Meta on Twitter.
Dozens of internet users reported on social media on Monday that their Instagram credentials were not recognized or that they received messages that their accounts had been suspended.
The specialist website Downdetector estimated the number of incidents at several thousand with a peak around 14:00 GMT. A similar incident happened on September 22, the reasons were not explained on Instagram.
The problems come less than a week after another Meta app, WhatsApp, went down affecting billions of users last Tuesday.
In October 2021, Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook were shut down for several hours due to a coordination problem between different data storage centers.
